My Review

Will Smith plays a government agent who finds he is fighting a younger clone of himself in “Gemini Man.” On the positive side, director Ang Lee (“Life of Pi” 2012) and producer Jerry Bruckheimer (“Top Gun” 1986) installed good production values, outstanding special effects, and a generous dose of well choreographed fight scenes into this picture. On the negative side, the big failure here is the predictable, and even boring, plot and storyline.

Screenwriters David Benioff, Billy Ray, and Darren Lemke did not distinguish themselves with the barely passable screenplay. They did not provide cast members quality material to work with, including Will Smith, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen, Benedict Wong, Ralph Brown, and Linda Emond.

The excellent special effects that created the younger Smith was achieved through motion capture and cgi (computer generated imagery). It was not enough to make “Gemini Man” a watchable film or a success at the box office for Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Paramount Pictures.
