“Frontera” tells the story of an undocumented worker crossing the border from Mexico into the United States seeking employment when he is accused of murder. Director Michael Berry adeptly steered this motion picture that has a well-crafted beginning, middle, and satisfactory conclusion. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Louis Moulinet III; the film was Berry’s big screen debut in the director’s chair.
The talented cast delivered good performances, including Michael Pena as the illegal alien, Ed Harris as the owner of the ranch and the former sheriff of the Texas county where the film is set, Amy Madigan as the murder victim, and Eva Longoria as Pena’s wife. The supporting cast includes Matthew Page, Julio Cedillo, Seth Adkins, Daniel Zacapa, and Aden Young as Sheriff Randall Hunt.
“Frontera,” which means “border” in Spanish, is a watchable film and a sleeper movie from Ocean Blue Entertainment.
