Ryan Reynolds stars in “Free Guy“ as a bank teller who discovers he is actually a supporting character in a video game. This innovative science fiction comedy picture was well directed by Shawn Levy (“Night at the Museum“ series: 2006, 2009, 2014) and written by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn. The movie started off slow, causing the audience to wonder if they were wasting time and money. The storyline began to pick up after about twenty minutes or so, and progressed to a satisfying conclusion. This film is solid Disney family entertainment.
Reynolds, who also served as one of the producers with Levy, delivered a refreshingly guileless performance in the title role. The supporting cast included Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery, Taika Waititi, Channing Tatum. The watchable “Free Guy“ was a moderate hit at the box office for 20th Century Fox Studios, a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios.
