Director James Mangold (“Walk the Line” 2005) put together an interesting story about the 1966 Ferrari-Ford rivalry for victory at the LeMans car race in France in the movie “Ford v Ferrari.” Mangold (also a producer with Peter Chernin) and screenwriters Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth, and Jason Keller struck a perfect balance between car action sequences and character development.
Mangold also allowed the space for the actors to do their respective jobs well, including Matt Damon as Carroll Shelby (auto designer & engineer), Christian Bale as Ken Miles (English auto racer), Tracy Letts as Henry Ford II, Jon Bernthal as Lee Iacocca, Remo Girone as Enzo Ferrari, Caitriona Balfe as Bale’s wife, and talented child actor as Peter Miles, son of Bale’s son.
“Ford v Ferrari” is a watchable motion picture from 20th Century Fox, fun entertainment for the entire family.
