The writing and directing team of Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (“Crazy, Stupid Love” 2011) have turned out a mediocre movie called “Focus.” The film has a shallow story, a predictable plot, and bad writing. The only factor that made this film a success at the box office for Warner Bros. is the charisma, talent, and presence of stars Will Smith and Margot Robbie, who do quite well filling in the roles of two grifters preying upon each other.
Co-stars include B. D. Wong, Rodrigo Santoro, Gerald McRaney, Adrian Martinez, Dominic Fumusa, and Robert Taylor, famous as TV’s Sheriff Walt Longmire on “Longmire” (2012-2017). This motion picture suffers from a lack of “Focus” thanks to sloppy production from RatPac-Dune Entertainment, Di Novi Pictures, Kramer & Sigman Films, Overbrook Entertainment, Zaftig Films, and Warner Bros. Pictures.
