“Everybody’s Fine” is an outstanding drama film starring Robert De Niro as a man’s relationship with his adult children, who live in different parts of the country and with whom he has trouble arranging visits. The taut direction and screenplay by English director Kirk Jones (“Nanny McPhee” 2005) focuses right in on important factors in life and leaves the viewer with a positive feeling. It was based on the 1990 Italian picture of the same name by Giuseppe Tornatore.
The outstanding cast includes Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale, and Sam Rockwell as De Niro’s children, as well as Katherine Moennig, Melissa Leo, Damian Young, and James Frain. The watchable “Everybody’s Fine” was not terribly successful at the box office for Miramax Films and Buena Vista International.
