“End of Watch” is a finely crafted crime drama about two LAPD officers who patrol the dangerous streets of the South Central Los Angeles area. Producer-director-screenwriter David Ayer (“Harsh Times” 2005) evidently did his research, as the film has an authentic feel to it.
The cast is headed by Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena, who bring much energy to the roles of the two officers. Other cast members include Anna Kendrick, Natalie Martinez, Frank Grillo, David Harbour, America Ferrera, Cody Horn, Kristy Wu, Shondrella Avery, and Richard Cabral. “End of Watch” was successful at the box office for the independent film production companies involved.
