My Review

“Edge of Tomorrow” is an intriguing and provocative science fiction movie, which stars Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt as soldiers fighting an alien invasion that has taken over continental Europe. Both are caught in a time loop, and when they are killed in battle each day, return to the same time the previous day. They must get reacquainted each time.

Credit goes to the filmmakers for dealing with the time loops in a creative manner, so this film is not just “Groundhog Day” meets “Alien.” Director Doug Liman (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith” 2005) and screenwriters Christopher McQuarrie, Jez Butterworth, and John-Henry Butterworth did a fantastic job in pacing, plot, and storyline. They masterfully guided the audience through the maze of time loops to a satisfactory conclusion. Excellent job by film editors James Herbert and Laura Jennings.

The supporting cast includes Bill Paxton, Brendan Gleeson, Noah Taylor, Jonas Armstrong, Tony Way, Kirk Gurry, Charlotte Riley, Franz Drameh, et al. The watchable “Edge of Tomorrow” keeps viewers on the edge of their seats and kept Warner Bros. Pictures on the edge of prosperity with a hit at the box office.
