Walt Disney Pictures hired director Tim Burton (“Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” 1985) to create a modern day, live action movie version of the animated classic “Dumbo.” The results are positive, as this version has good production values, a passable screenplay by Ehren Kruger, impressive special effects, and the lessons of kindness and tolerance from the original produced by Walt Disney himself in 1941.
The cast of talented actors includes Colin Farrell, Danny DeVito, Michael Keaton, Eva Green, Alan Arkin, Nico Parker, and Finley Hobbins. The watchable “Dumbo,” based on the 1939 book by Helen Aberson and Harold Pearl, is great family entertainment from Walt Disney Pictures that was a success at the box office.
