“Dora and the Lost City of Gold” is a film version of the animated series “Dora the Explorer” on the Nickelodeon cable television channel. Although the movie is loaded with cliches and a predictable storyline, the good production values from director James Bobin (“The Muppets” 2011) and a lucid screenplay by Nicholas Stoller and Matthew Robinson make this project into acceptable family entertainment.
The cast includes Isabela Moner as Dora and Michael Pena and Eva Longoria as her parents, as well as Eugenio Derbez, Jeff Wahlberg, Madeleine Madden, Temuera Morrison, and Pia Miller.
