My Review

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has come out with its most unusual superhero to date: “Doctor Strange.” Actor Benedict Cumberbatch uses his considerable acting skills and offbeat persona to portray Dr. Stephen Strange, a neurosurgeon who loses the use of his hands in an automobile accident, only to gain superpowers from the Ancient One (Tilda Swanson) and Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor).

Director Scott Derrickson (“The Day the Earth Stood Still” 2008) kept the picture moving at an even pace for two hours. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Jon Spaihts and C. Robert Cargill. Honorable mention goes to Michael Giacchino for his wonderful soundtrack and to cinematographer Ben Davis and his crew for their work in making “Doctor Strange” a sight to behold in 3D.

The supporting cast behind Cumberbatch, Swanson, and Ejiofor includes Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Benjamin Bratt, Michael Stuhlberg, Scott Adkins, and Mads Mikkelsen in this fourteenth film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Doctor Strange,” all part of the bigger universe of The Walt Disney Company.
