My Review

“Devotion” is the real-life story of two Navy pilots during the Korean War. Director J. D. Dillard (“Sweetheart” 2019) put together an dramatic film that balanced the friendship between Jesse Brown and Tom Hudner and great airplane action scenes. The excellent screenplay was written by Jake Crane and Jonathan A. Stewart, adapted from the 2015 book “Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship, and Sacrifice” by Adam Makos.

The entire cast gave standout performances, especially Jonathan Majors as Brown and Glen Powell as Hudner, the lead characters. The supporting cast includes Christina Jackson, Daren Kagasoff, Joe Jonas, Thad Luckinbill, and Joseph Cross. There were cameo appearances by Serinda Swan as Elizabeth Taylor and Bill Martin Williams as President Harry S Truman.

“Devotion” did not do well at the box office, as it was released during the post-COVID19 era. The production companies involved were STX Films, Black Label Media, Stage 6 Films, Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Releasing, and Paramount Pictures.
