My Review

“Dangerous When Wet” is one of many Esther Williams aquatic musical comedies which ran in movie theaters from 1944 to 1955. This film is the story of a farmer’s daughter who attempts to swim the English Channel, capably directed by Charles Walters (“Easter Parade” 1948). A dream sequence featuring Williams performing an underwater ballet with cartoon characters Tom and Jerry is a famous highlight of the movie.

The supporting cast includes Fernando Lamas, Jack Carson, Charlotte Greenwood, William Demarest, Donna Corcoran, Barbara Whiting, Denise Darcel, Richard Alexander, Tudor Owen, Ann Codee, and William Hanna as the voice of Tom and Jerry. The very entertaining and watchable “Dangerous When Wet” was a hit at the box office for M-G-M Cartoons and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
