Will Farrell’s latest movie is the very predictable comedy “Daddy’s Home.” Producer-star Farrell and director Sean Anders did come up with some laughs to make viewing worthwhile; it could be classified as fair escapist programming. Ferrell also had a hand in the mediocre screenplay he co-wrote with Brian Burns and John Morris.
Along with Will Farrell, the cast includes Mark Wahlberg, Linda Cardellini, Scarlett Estevez, Owen Vaccaro, Hannibal Buress, Thomas Haden Church, Bobby Cannavale, Bill Burr, John Cena, Alessandra Ambrosio, LaMonica Garrett, and basketball star Kobe Bryant as himself in a cameo appearance.
“Daddy’s Home” was a moderate success in theatrical release for Paramount Pictures; admittedly it was up against the opening weekend of “Star Wars Seven: The Force Awakens.”
