A convoluted plot and a worn-out story line with mediocre performances pretty much describes “Criminal.” Director Ariel Vromen (“The Iceman” 2012) and screenwriters Douglas Cook and David Weisberg weave a tale of a convict who is implanted with the memories of a deceased CIA agent, the objective being the completion of the late agent’s assignment. Haven’t we seen this movie before?
Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, and Gary Oldman are the three principals in this project. The trio are reunited from another box office disaster they co-starred in back in 1991: “JFK.” Other performers include Gal Gadot, Alice Eve, Michael Pitt, Ryan Reynolds, Robert Davi. What a “Criminal” disappointment at the box office for Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate.
