My Review

“Courageous” is a faith-based drama film about five men working out their Christian faith in every day living. They attend the same weekly Bible study, and the film goes into details of their intertwined lives. Expert directing by Alex Kendrick (“Fireproof” 2008) gave the movie good production values, with a wonderful screenplay he wrote with his brother Stephen Kendrick, who is also the film’s producer.

Considering the subject matter, “Courageous” probably doesn’t have much appeal outside of faith-based communities. However, the quality of the motion picture is very high, with good acting, a well-written script, and outstanding production values apparent throughout the film. It is the latest effort from Sherwood Pictures, a ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, where the Kendrick brothers are members.

Stars of the show include Alex Kendrick, Ken Bevel, Kevin Downes, Ben Davies, Robert Amaya, Renee Jewell, Elanor Brown, Taylor Hutcherson, and Ed Litton as Pastor Rogers. “Courageous” was quite a big success at the box office for Kendrick Brothers Productions, TriStar Pictures, Affirm Films, Provident Entertainment, and Sherwood Pictures.
