“Colombiana” is an action movie about a young woman out for revenge against a drug kingpin who murdered her parents when she was a child. Director Olivier Megaton (“Transporter 3” 2008) put together what would be considered an average action film with a predictable story, from an adequate screenplay by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen.
The star of the show is Zoe Saldana in the lead role. She definitely has the chops to pull off this sort of part. Co-stars include Jordi Molla as the drug lord, Lennie James as an FBI agent, Amandla Stenberg as little girl Zoe, Callum Blue as a CIA operative, Cynthia Addai-Robinson and Jesse Borego as Zoe’s parents, Graham McTavish as U. S. Marshall, Michael Vartan as Zoe’s boyfriend, and Cliff Curtis as Zoe’s uncle.
The watchable “Colombiana” was a modest success in theatrical release for producer Luc Besson, EuropaCorp, TF1 Films Productions, Grive Productions, and Canal+.
