“Clash of the Titans” is an action-adventure movie telling the story of the mythological Greek gods in conflict with each other in spectacular fashion. Director Louis Leterrier (“The Transporter” 2002) put together his version of the 1981 movie of the same name, emphasizing action-adventure sequences with a weaker storyline over the superior writing and more imaginative script of 1981. This decidedly weaker, but still exciting, screenplay was penned by Travis Beacham, Phil Hay, and Matt Manfredi.
The cast includes Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Gemma Arterton, Polly Walker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alexa Davalos, Vincent Regan, Liam Cunningham, Nicholas Hoult, Hans Matheson, Pete Postlethwaite, Elizabeth McGovern, Luke Evans, Danny Huston, Alexander Siddig, and Natalia Vodianova as the Medusa.
The watchable “Clash of the Titans” was a hit at the box office for producer Richard D. Zanuck, Legendary Pictures, The Zanuck Company, Thunder Road Pictures, and Warner Bros. Pictures. A sequel called “Wrath of the Titans” was released in 2012 with Worthington, Fiennes, and Neeson reprising their roles. It received two Golden Raspberry Nominations for Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off, or Sequel and Worst Use of Eye-Gouging Misuse of 3-D.
