My Review

Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds paired up in the comedy-action-buddy film “City Heat.” The facts about this movie is that there is very little comedy or action, and not much of a “buddy” relationship between these two major stars. This is due to terrible direction by Richard Benjamin (“My Favorite Year” 1982) and an even worse screenplay written by Blake Edwards, who was originally set to direct his own work but replaced with Benjamin. Edwards said they changed the story completely from his original intent. He was billed as screenwriter Sam O. Brown in the credits.

The impressive but underutilized supporting cast includes Jane Alexander, Madeline Kahn, Rip Torn, Irene Cara, Richard Roundtree, Tony Lo Bianco, William Sanderson, Robert Davi. The unwatchable “City Heat” did not generate any heat at the box office for Warner Bros. Pictures.
