“City by the Sea” is a crime drama about a policeman’s son who gets involved in a drug related killing. This gripping drama from director Michael Caton-Jones (“The Jackel” 1997) and screenwriter Ken Hixon is a top-rate story with marvelous performances by the cast.
Robert De Niro is in top form in the lead role, one of the best performances of his career. His co-stars include Frances McDormand, James Franco, Patti Lupone, Anson Mount, William Forsythe, Eliza Dushku, George Dzundza, Nestor Serrano, and Drena De Niro, daughter of Robert. The watchable “City by the Sea” did not do well at the box office for Franchise Pictures, Brad Grey Pictures, and Warner Bros. Pictures.
