Disorganized directing by Doug Liman (“Mr. and Mrs. Smith” 2005) and a lame screenplay by Patrick Ness and Christopher Ford all characterize the sci-fi film “Chaos Walking.” This futuristic story about survivors of a planetary war who suffer from an affliction that allows others to see and hear their thoughts falls flat on its face.
An interesting fact about this is that Ness adapted the screenplay from his own novel “The Knife of Never Letting Go” from 2008. Bad writing and an even worse story.
The suffering actors, perhaps only in this project for the money, include Daisy Ridley, Tom Holland, Nick Jonas, David Oyelowo, Mads Mikkelsen, Damian Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Ray McKinnon, Kurt Sutter, Bethany Anne Lind, in the insufferable, unwatchable dud “Chaos Walking,” an independent movie distributed by Lionsagate.
