My Review

“Change of Habit” is a musical drama film where Elvis Presley plays a doctor who takes a job of running a health care center in New York City. He enlists three women to help out who, unknown to him, are actually nuns dressed in street clothes. He falls in love with one of them and the G-rated drama proceeds from there! Director William A. Graham put together a winsome and high-quality Elvis drama-music vehicle, from a script by James Lee, Eric Bercovici, and S. S. Schweitzer.

The supporting cast includes Mary Tyler Moore, Barbara McNair, Jane Elliot, Leora Dana, Edward Asner, Robert Emhardt, Regis Toomey, Richard Carlson, and Bill Elliott (husband of Dionne Warwick). Moore and Asner would soon be co-stars in a popular CBS sitcom called “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” (1970-1977). Darlene Love and A Martinez were in this picture in uncredited cameo roles.

The watchable “Change of Habit” was very popular at the box office for NBC Productions and Universal Pictures. This would be Presley’s final feature film role; his first movie was “Love Me Tender” in 1956.
