Brie Larson turns in an outstanding performance as Marvel Studios’ latest superhero “Captain Marvel.” This twenty-first movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is enormously entertaining, telling the story of how Carol Danvers obtained superhero powers after an accident, becoming Captain Marvel.
The supporting cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Annette Bening, Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Clark Gregg, Lashana Lynch, and Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva.
Directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (“Mississippi Grind” 2015), who both co-wrote the screenplay with Geneva Robertson-Dworet, kept the picture running on an even keel. “Captain Marvel” is yet another big hit for producer Kevin Feige (President of Marvel Studios) and Walt Disney Pictures, earning a cool one billion dollars in domestic and global theatrical release.
