My Review

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is a worthy sequel to 2011’s “Captain America: The First Avengers.” There’s plenty of action, special effects, things blowing up, and twists and turns in the plot to keep Marvel fans happy. Directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo (“You, Me and Dupree” 2006) and screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have done a fantastic job of making the nearly two-and-a-half hour film go by very fast.

Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers/Captain America, a role which he owns. As someone from the 1940’s who awakens in the 21st century, Rogers has to keep making adjustments, all the while dealing with the responsibilities of being a superhero. Helping out are Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, and Anthony Mackie as the Falcon.

Also appearing are Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Jenny Agutter, Robert Redford, Samuel L. Jackson, Alan Dale, and Garry Shandling as Senator Stern. Stan Lee, Elizabeth Olsen, and the voice of Gary Sinise pop up in uncredited cameo appearances. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is the ninth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe of Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures, and popular with movie-going audiences.
