My Review

“Bullitt” is a crime thriller movie where Steve McQueen plays a police detective who pursues a group of mobsters after they kill a witness he’s been assigned to protect. Peter Yates (“Summer Holiday” 1963) tightly directed this action-filled picture, well-known for a memorable car chase scene through the streets of San Francisco.

Alan R. Trustman and Harry Kleiner wrote the outstanding screenplay for this Steve McQueen vehicle. The talented supporting cast includes Jacqueline Bisset, Robert Vaughn, Don Gordon, Robert Duvall, Simon Oakland, Norman Fell, Vic Tayback, Georg Stanford Brown, Pat Renella, Felice Orlandi, Carl Reindel, Paul Genge, Ed Peck, Bill Hickman, John Aprea, and Al Checco as a desk clerk.

“Bullitt” was a hit in theatrical release for Solar Productions and Warner Bros.-Seven Arts. It won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for Frank P. Keller.
