Chick flick comedy abounds in producer-director Bill Holderman’s star studded movie “Book Club.” This story of four senior citizens who get together once a month to discuss their favorite book bears little resemblance to your grandmother’s sewing circle, as the principal characters are played by Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, Diane Keaton, and Mary Steenburgen.
Holderman did a commendable job in his directorial debut herding the big stars into a watchable motion picture that basically appeals to older white women. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Erin Simms.
Supporting cast members in Paramount Pictures’ “Book Club” includes such familiar faces as Ed Begley Jr., Richard Dreyfuss, Andy Garcia, Don Johnson, Craig T. Nelson, Alicia Silverstone, and Katie Asselton.
