My Review

“Boo 2! A Madea Halloween” has bad writing, terrible acting, and sloppy direction. But somehow this tenth film in Tyler Perry’s “Madea” comedy series, that started in 2005 with “Diary of a Mad Black Woman,” is somehow entertaining with lots of laughs and was a hit in theatrical release.

Perry is definitely on autopilot with his direction of the film, and in his depiction of the wise-cracking elderly black woman Mabel “Madea” Simmons, but is as hilarious as ever. He also appeared in two other roles, that of eccentric Uncle Joe Simmons and straight-laced Brian Simmons. This picture is also a spoof of the “Halloween” slasher movies, with Madea and friends encountering chainsaw murderers in the mountain summer camp where her great-niece is enrolled.

Tyler Perry’s co-stars include Cassie Davis, Patrice Lovely, Yousef Erakat, Diamond White, Andre Hall, Tito Ortiz, among others, in this Lionsgate movie. Tyler Perry won the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress.
