My Review

“Better Living Through Chemistry” is a dark comedy about a pharmacist whose life goes awry when he and his girl friend abuse drugs obtained from his pharmacy. Although directors-screenwriters David Posamentier and Geoff Moore do deliver a few laughs and try to be hip with some slick production values and Jane Fonda narrating, most of the film falls flat on its face. The directors do not seem to take seriously the damage done by drugs, of all kinds, in the world today.

The otherwise talented cast seem to be wasting their time: Sam Rockwell, Olivia Wilde, Michelle Monaghan, Ben Schwartz, Ken Howard, Ray Liotta, and Jane Fonda as the narrator and in a cameo appearance. The virtually unwatchable “Better Living Through Chemistry” from Occupant Films and Samuel Goldwyn Films made no money at the box office, even with limited release in art house cinemas.
