“Arcadian” is a science fiction horror film where Nicholas Cage plays a man trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world with his two teenage sons. Director Benjamin Brewer put together a film that has loads of action and a believable storyline from the screenplay by Michael Nilon. However, this movie has subject matter which we have seen many times in many motion pictures. The monsters are ugly and horrifying, and at first only appear in the shadows, and is enjoyable for those who like a old-fashioned horrorfest.
The cast does deliver in the performance department, lead by veteran Nicholas Cage in one of his diverse movie roles of recent years. Co-stars include Jaeden Martell and Maxwell Jenkins as Cage’s sons, Sadie Soverall as Charlotte, Joel Gilman as Hobson, and Joe Dixon and Samantha Coughlin as Mr. and Mrs. Rose. The passable “Arcadian” performed poorly at the box office for producers Nicholas Cage and Michael Nilon, Saturn Films, Redline Entertainment, Highland Film Group, and RLJE Films.
