My Review

Aquaman and his estranged brother Orm Marius join forces to combat their common enemy Black Manta, who is threatening to destroy the kingdom of Atlantis in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.” Director James Wan (“Furious 7” 2015) made an exciting movie that is filled with gripping action sequences and a clear storyline. It helped to have a good screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.

The cast includes James Momoa as Aquaman/Arthur Curry, Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius, Amber Heard as Queen Mera of Atlantis, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta/David Kane, Randall Park, Dolph Lundgren, Vincent Regan, and Martin Short and John Rhys-Davies in voice roles. Show biz stalwarts Nicole Kidman and Temuera Morrison return as Mom and Dad Aquaman.

“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” has only been modestly successful at the box office for DC Films and Warner Bros. Pictures, most likely the last time Jason Momoa will play the water-bound role. It is a sequel to 2018’s “Aquaman.” This is the 15th and final installment in the DC Extended Universe, to be rebooted in 2025 with “Superman: Legacy.” Producers James Gunn and Peter Safran are the new heads of DC Studios.
