My Review

Marvel Studios has put together an immensely entertaining sequel to 2015’s “Ant-Man” called “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man is reunited with Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne/Wasp, with more screen time for the later and more laughs for the former.

Returning director Peyton Reed (“Ant-Man” 2015) and screenwriters Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Paul Rudd, Andrew Barrer, and Gabriel Ferrari have filled this two hour picture with more levity and humor than the original, a good balance to the action-adventure and drama that are always present in films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this one being number twenty.

The newcomer to the “Ant-Man” cast is Michelle Pfeiffer ass Janet van Dyne, Hope’s mother, who has been lost in the “quantum realm.” As far as we know, this is Pfeiffer’s first return to Disney since her employment at Disneyland as a young woman in her native Orange County, California. She has very good chemistry with Lilly, Rudd, and Michael Douglas, who plays her husband Hank Pym. Janet and Hank were the original Wasp and Ant-Man, respectively.

The supporting cast includes Michael Pena, Laurence Fishburne, Randall Park, Judy Greer, Bobby Cannavale, Hannah John-Kamen, Walton Goggins, Tip Harris, David Dastmalchian, and Abby Ryder Fortson as the young daughter of Lang.

All are part of the very watchable “Ant-Man and the Wasp” from Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures.
