My Review

“And So It Goes” tells the story of a widower suddenly given the responsibility of caring for his nine-year-old granddaughter. Michael Douglas rises to the challenge of this role, playing opposite Diane Keaton, who is his fellow-widowed neighbor. The easy-going personas of both actors are perfect for this picture, a nice story from producer-director Rob Reiner (“Stand By Me” 1986).

The supporting cast behind Douglas and Keaton are Sterling Jerins, Scott Shepard, Annie Parisse, Yaya DaCosta, Frankie Valli, Rob Reiner, Andy Karl, David Aaron Baker, Theo Stockman, and Frances Sternhagen, who has been in movies since 1967’s “Up The Down Staircase.”

“And So It Goes” is a typically winsome and pleasant movie from Rob Reiner, and was a modest hit at the box office for him and his production company Castle Rock Entertainment.
