“American Assassin” is the story of a CIA operative working to stop the detonation of a rogue nuclear bomb, while at the same time out for revenge against a terrorist who killed his girl friend. His boss at the intelligence bureau recognizes his conflict of interest, and the sparks fly and the drama proceeds from there.
This action-adventure film make for good escapist programming, with excellent direction by Michael Cuesta (usually at the helm of television shows like “Homeland”) and a good screenplay by Stephen Schiff, Michael Finch, Edward Zwick, and Marshall Herskovitz.
Dylan O’Brien did a wonderful job in the lead role, with talented co-stars like Michael Keaton, Sanaa Latham, Shiva Negar, Taylor Kitsch, David Suchet, Navid Negahban, Scott Adkins, and Charlotte Vega. “American Assassin” was adapted from the 2010 novel of the same name by Vince Flynn, produced by CBS Films and Lionsgate Films.
