My Review

“Alfie” is a romantic comedy that tells the story of a sex addict who hops into bed with numerous women. This film is a remake of the 1966 film, with Jude Law playing the title role, originally held by Michael Caine. Director Charles Shyer (“Private Benjamin” 1980) was at the helm of a romantic comedy that is neither comical or romantic. He did a horrible job with this incredibly boring movie, which he also co-wrote and co-produced with Elaine Pope.

The talents of the cast were wasted on this nonsense, which includes Jude Law, Marisa Tomei, Susan Sarandon, Renee Taylor, Jane Krakowski, Omar Epps, Sienna Miller, Nia Long, Kevin Rahm, Gedde Watanabe, Dick Latessa, and Jeff Harding. A black and white photo of Michael Caine appeared in the closing credits.

Star power could not help “Alfie,” a box office bomb for Paramount Pictures. This motion picture leaves us wondering “what’s it all about.”
