Ben Affleck and Matt Damon team up for their ninth movie together in the sports/business film “Air.” The nearly two hour movie tells the true story of the events surrounding the development of Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan basketball shoe in the 1980’s. It was up to that time the biggest endorsement deal ever with a sports superstar.
Director Ben Affleck (“Gone Baby Gone” 2007) and screenwriter Alex Convery have put together a film that has good production values, but is a bit on the dull side. The subject matter about a shoe does not necessarily translate into engrossing movie fare, even when it is Michael Jordan’s foot gear.
The supporting cast includes Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker, Viola Davis Jessica Green, Barbara Sukowa, Jay Mohr, Gustaf Skarsgard, Joel Gretsch, Michael O’Neal, and Damian Young as Michael Jordan.
“Air” was produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and the folks from Amazon Studios and Mandalay Pictures, who all about broke even when the film barely made a profit in theatrical release.
