Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn play married lawyers who come to oppose each other in court in “Adam’s Rib.” Director George Cukor (“My Fair Lady” 1964) was at the helm of this classic “battle of the sexes” film which has outstanding production values, riveting performances, and a brilliant screenplay penned by Ruth Gordon and Garson Kanin.
Co-stars include Judy Holiday, Tom Ewell, David Wayne, Jean Hagen, Hope Emerson, Clarence Kolb, Emerson Treacy, Polly Moran, Will Wright, Eve March, and Marvin Kaplan as the court stenographer. Kaplan later became famous as phone company employee Henry Beesmeyer on the CBS sitcom “Alice” (1977-1985). The very watchable “Adam’s Rib” was a hit in theaters for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It had one Academy Award nod for Best Story and Screenplay (Gordon & Kanin).
