My Review

“A Walk Among the Tombstones” is a crime drama thriller about a retired NYPD officer turned private detective who takes on a case where a drug trafficker’s wife has been murdered. As his investigation progresses, he discovers that her death is part of a larger case involving a crime syndicate. The heavy drama proceeds from there, well managed by director-screenwriter Scott Frank (“The Lookout” 2007).

The cast is headed by Liam Neeson as private eye Matt Scudder. He delivers his familiar performance as the guy trying to do the right thing against all odds; this film is pretty much a Liam Neeson vehicle. Co-stars include Dan Stevens, Mark Consuelos, Boyd Holbrook, David Harbour, Olafur Darri Olafsson, Laura Birn, Brian “Astro” Bradley, and Marielle Heller as the DEA agent. The watchable “A Walk Among the Tombstones” was a modest hit at the box office for producer Danny DeVito, Cross Creek Pictures, End Game Entertainment, 1984 Private Defense Contractors, Jersey Films, and Universal Pictures.
