“A Lawless Street” is a western with the familiar storyline of a beleaguered marshal trying to keep peace in a lawless wild west frontier town. Meanwhile, things get spicy when a song-and-dance troupe featuring his long-lost girl friend arrives in town. Director Joseph H. Lewis was effective at the helm of this low-budget western from Columbia Pictures.
Randolph Scott stars as Marshall Ware. His performance seems sluggish and perhaps is miscast as he appears too old for the part, coming later in his career. Angela Lansbury plays his ex-girl friend, appearing to be her usual energetic and perky self. Co-stars include Wallace Ford is the town doctor, Warner Anderson, Jean Parker, John Emery, James Bell, Ruth Donnelly, Harry Atrium, Michael Pate, and Don Megowan.
