“Seven” is a crime drama about two police detectives investigating murders they soon discover is the work of a serial killer, who is targeting people he thinks represents the seven deadly sins. Director David Fincher (“Alien 3” 1992) put together quite a taut thriller with few dull moments, a fast-moving 127 minute running time. The solid screenplay was written by Andrew Kevin Walker.
The outstanding cast includes Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt as the two cops on the case. The pair have great chemistry, with Freeman adding his own gravitas to the film. Co-stars include Gwyneth Paltrow, Richard Roundtree, Kevin Spacey, R. Lee Ermey, John C. McGinley, John Cassini, Reg E. Cathey, Richard Schiff, and Mark Boone Junior.
The watchable thriller “Seven” was very successful in theatrical release for Arnold Kopelson Productions and New Line Cinema. It was the seventh highest grossing film of 1995. “Seven” received one Academy Award nod for Best Film Editing. The location of the city where the story was set is not mentioned, but it was filmed in Los Angeles but has the feel of New York City. This is a great movie with great stars!
