My Review

“The Sisters Brothers” is a quirky western drama from French director Jacques Audiard, his first production in English. The result is an entertaining and watchable motion picture, the story of two cowboy assassin brothers who chase after two other men searching for gold. Audiard also co-wrote the screenplay with Thomas Bidegain.

John C. Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix have great chemistry as Eli and Charlie Sisters, with more than adequate performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Riz Ahmed as the gold prospectors, and members of the supporting cast Rebecca Root, Allison Tolman, Ian Reddington, Richard Brake, Creed Bratton, Carol Kane as the Sisters mother, and Rutger Hauer as the Commodore, one of his final film appearances.

John C. Reilly is one of the producers of this independent movie.
