My Review

A young man from Los Angeles moves to Michigan to help his ailing grandmother, and subsequently gets involved with a neighbor and her daughters “In the Land of Women.” Director-screenwriter Jonathan Kasdan created a film that does have acceptable production values, observable character development, and some good acting in this superior “chick flick.”

The cast of familiar faces includes Adam Brody (in his first leading role), Kristen Stewart, Meg Ryan, Olympia Dukakis, Makenzie Vega, Elena Anaya, Clark Gregg, JoBeth Williams, Dustin Milligan, Ginnifer Goodwyn, Danielle Savre, Graham Wardle, Jeff Cunningham, and Karin Konoval as Dr. Ida Rosen. The movie does pass our watchability test, barely. “In the Land of Women” was a modest success at the box office for Castle Rock Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures.
