My Review

The Best Picture of 2018 is…..”Green Book,” an engrossing story about an African-American classical pianist on tour with his Italian-American driver through the 1960’s Midwest and Deep South, where complications arise. The film has exceptional character development thanks to solid direction by Peter Farrelly (“Dumb and Dumber 2” 2016) and an outstanding screenplay by Farrelly, Brian Hayes Currie, and Nick Vallelonga, son of the real life Tony Vallelonga, the main character.

The chemistry between the two principal actors is excellent, and moves this picture into the watchable category. Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali display amazing acting range and deliver career highlight performances. Linda Cardellini, who has been in numerous films in recent years in supporting roles, also has a great part here as Mortensen’s wife.

“Green Book” is great entertainment from Universal Pictures, and was awarded three Oscars, for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali.
