“12 Strong” is the true story of the first U. S. military incursion into Afghanistan after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Although a well intentioned salute to our brave men in uniform by producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Nicolai Fuglsig, and screenwriters Ted Tally and Peter Craig, this movie falls short due to lack of focus in the story and poor character development.
The actors include Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon, Michael Pena, Trevante Rhodes, Geoff Stults, Thad Luckinbill, Austin Stowell, Ben O’Toole, Kenneth Miller, Kenny Sheard, and Jack Kesy. All did a fantastic job in their portrayal of American Special Forces. The supporting cast includes Navid Negahban, Rob Riggle, Elsa Pataky, and William Fichtner.
“12 Strong” from Warner Bros. Pictures was a modest success at the box office, and has done better on dvd and home video.
