“Ocean’s 8” is a well put together heist film starring Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean, the younger sister of George Clooney’s Danny Ocean from director Steven Soderbergh’s “Ocean” trilogy of 2001, 2004, and 2007. (The original “Ocean’s 11” starring Frank Sinatra and Angie Dickinson came out in 1960.)
The smoothly directed movie from Gary Ross (“The Hunger Games” 2012), who also co-wrote the screenplay with Olivia Milch, did have a predictable storyline but was a fast moving and entertaining 110 minutes in the theater. The film was well organized with viewers able to keep track of the plot. The large cast included Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Paulson, Richard Armitage, James Corden, and Rihanna.
This Warner Bros. motion picture was successful at the box office and may well spawn a sequel. Time will tell!
