My Review

“Last Christmas” is a holiday romantic comedy set in London, with the charms of stars Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding on full display. They could not help this dud, however, with the predictable storyline by screenwriters Emma Thompson and Bryony Kimmings taking the glitter out of this Universal Pictures release.

The 103 minutes of this cliche-ridden film seemed to drag on and on. Director Paul Feig (“Spy” 2015) appeared to be working on autopilot for the duration of the production, leading to more yawns in the audience tan there were kisses on the big screen.

Feig also served as one of the producers, which included writer Thompson, who contributed her thespian talents to the show, playing Clarke’s mum. The supporting cast includes Michelle Yoeh (a James Bond girl from 1997’s “Tomorrow Never Dies”), Patti LuPone, Lydia Leonard, Rebecca Root, Boris Isakovic, Ingrid Oliver.

Rather than suffer through the unwatchable “Last Christmas,” viewers are advised to watch the James Stewart classic “It’s a Wonderful Life,” or any other Christmas picture for that matter.
