My Review

The last major film appearance for Chadwick Boseman was in “21 Bridges,” where he plays a New York police detective who shuts down the 21 bridges entering Manhattan Island to capture two alleged cop killers. The film is rife with drama thanks to director Brian Kirk, who hits the right notes to make this a solid action picture, from a good screenplay written by Adam Mervis and Matthew Michael Carnahan.

Boseman, who unfortunately passed away at the age of 43 in August, 2020, about nine months after the film’s release, would certainly have reached superstar status had he lived a longer life. Boseman was at the height of his fame as Black Panther in four Marvel Studios movies (2016-2019). He certainly lent his considerable talent and charisma to this project. The supporting cast includes Sienna Miller, J. K. Simmons, Stephan James, Keith David, Alexander Siddig, Taylor Kitsch, Louis Cancelmi, and Victoria Cartagena.

The producers include Boseman and Anthony Russo & Joseph Russo, the brothers who usually direct films like “Avengers: End Game” (2019). This independent film was only a modest success at the box office.
