My Review

“Harry & Snowman” is documentary film about Dutch immigrant Harry deLeyer and Snowman, his horse that he rescued from a truck headed for the glue factory. Originally a plow horse on an Amish farm in Pennsylvania, Snowman would go on to a professional career as a “show jumper” winning the Triple Crown of show jumping at Madison Square Garden. DeLeyer and Snowman would appear on numerous television programs such as “To Tell The Truth” and “The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson.”

Director-screenwriter Ron Davis put together this comprehensive look at Snowman and his owner, describing them as friends. Snowman lived from 1948-1974, passing away at age 26, just about the average age of horses. Davis included interviews with deLeyer and family and friends, and featured clips of his television appearances. Ron Davis and Nancy Stanton served as producers of the very watchable “Harry & Snowman,” an emotional and compelling documentary film, with an 88 minute running time.
