My Review

John Wayne and Lana Turner star in the exciting World War II drama “The Sea Chase.” The film depicts quite an oceanic cat and mouse game, with the Duke determined to get his German freighter home during the first few months of the war, all the while being pursued by British naval ships.

Director John Farrow (father of Mia Farrow) was the man-in-charge, with the script penned by James Warner Bellah and John Twist, adapted from the 1948 novel by Andrew Greer, based on a true story. Great results on the big screen for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The supporting cast behind John Wayne and Lana Turner includes David Farrar, Lyle Bettger, Tab Hunter, James Arness, Paul Fix, Claude Akin, John Qualen, Dick Davalos, John Doucette, and Alan Hale Jr., who would later take on another nautical role, that of the Skipper on “Gilligan’s Island” which ran on CBS from 1964 to 1967.
