My Review

“Olympus Has Fallen” is two hours of fun action movie escapism. It tells the story of a capture of the White House by well organized terrorists. Director Antoine Fuqua (“King Arthur” 2004) and screenwriters Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt provide a plausible enough plot and well paced action to hold viewers’ collective attention throughout.

The all star cast is also helpful in making this a watchable film, including Gerard Butler as the Secret Service agent trying to outwit the terrorists, Aaron Eckhart as the President held hostage, Melissa Leo as Secretary of Defense, Robert Forster as an Army General, James Ingersoll as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and Phil Austin as the Vice President.

Morgan Freeman plays the House Speaker, Angela Bassett as the head of the Secret Service, Rick Yune as the terrorist holding the White House hostage, and Ashley Judd as the First Lady. Others include Dylan McDermott, Cole Hauser, Finley Jacobsen, Sean O’Bryan, Lance Broadway, Radha Mitchell, Tony Kittles, and Keong Sim in this FilmDistrict release, a success at the box office. Gerard Butler also served as a co-producer of “Olympus Has Fallen.”
