The third installment of the “Has Fallen” movie series is out, called “Angel Has Fallen,” a well-done rehash of the previous films: “Olympus Has Fallen” (2013) and “London Has Fallen” (2016). This time, Gerard Butler’s character, Secret Service agent Mike Banning, is falsely accused of an attack on U. S. President Allan Trumbull, played by big screen veteran Morgan Freeman.
Director Ric Roman Waugh (“Snitch” 2013), producer Gerard Butler, and screenwriters Robert Mark Kamen, Matt Cook, and R. R. Waugh have put together a film that offers nothing new, really, but continues the successful formula implemented in the first two products, making “Angel Has Fallen” entertaining and watchable.
This Lionsgate release, a success at the box office, has a talented supporting cast behind Butler and Freeman including Danny Huston, Jada Pinkett Smith, Tim Blake Nelson, Piper Perabo, Lance Reddick, Mark Arnold, and Nick Nolte as Banning’s father. Nolte injected some comic relief into this fast moving action picture, “Angel Has Fallen.”
